Modern technology really is one of the marvels of the modern world. Technology really does come in many shapes and sizes but what each item has in common is that they are the creation of someone's imagination.
We all know that we are surrounded by technology – that our homes and our lives are filled with technology. We take for granted the toaster, the microwave, the fridge and now even the flat screen but there are other forms of technology which we can't take for granted because we don't even really know they are there.
A perfect example of this is bird control. Have you ever seen those spikes on top of buildings and walls? Well those are installed to prevent birds sitting and defecating all over that surface.
But sitting birds are one thing. Flying birds are completely another. We have all seen those terrible action movies where a stray of migrating bird flies into the engine of a plane causing disaster. We think about the reality of this happening with distain.
And yet technological methods have been used in cities and airports around the world for years to keep the birds away. One of the most common techniques used for large areas are sonic and ultrasonic sound devices. These keep birds away by emitting a sonic or ultrasonic sound which only birds can hear and it keeps them away.
